The Whitby Goth Weekend is now so popular that it runs twice a year and includes events throughout the week as well! These weekends are brilliant events and are well placed in Whitby with its gothic abbey and Dracula links.

The festival is organised by Jo Hampshire and is one of the most popular gothic events in the world. Most events are held in the Spa Pavilion as well as the Metropole Hotel on West Cliff. Other venues include theResolution Hotel on Skinner Street and the Walrus and Carpenter tea rooms on Church Street.

Popular pubs with the goth community include the New Angel Inn and theElsinore.

The events always sell-out and this is good news for the town’s business community. It’s also a great event to meet like-minded Goths.

Details about the 2015 will be added shortly (keep checking back!).
The official Whitby Goth Weekend website has full information about the events and an up-to-date listing of bands performing. There’s also a useful history of the festival, showing pictures and information from previous years.

As well as music, there are many other thing-to-do and see at the festival:

  • Goth clothing and jewellery stalls
  • Walks
  • Get-togethers
  • Drinking!
